Eric Kirkland is a cannabis attorney that represents fast-growing companies in the US and Canada as well as private equity funds in the emerging cannabis space including marijuana and the hemp/CBD industries. As an attorney, he provides a broad array of legal services with a focus on corporate structure, private offerings, secured debt financing, and tax matters. He has been the lead attorney on over $260 million in private offerings for cannabis companies since May of 2016. He also handles licensing agreements, equity incentive plans, and other legal issues that fast-growing businesses face as they expand. He assists companies through the arduous permitting and licensing process, appears at city council hearings, and guides businesses through the many pitfalls that besiege many early-stage cannabis companies.
Eric Kirkland started his career as an accountant. He is proficient in preparing financial projections and operational models as well as taking companies through certified public audits and 280E IRS tax audits.

Education
Mr. Kirkland graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and from Pepperdine School of Law in 1990. Mr. Kirkland was the winner of the Best Petitioners Brief and overall winner of the Vincent Dalismer Moot Court Competition before Supreme Court Justice Byron White and Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court Malcolm Lucas that was televised many times on C-Span. Mr. Kirkland was also a Simi-Finalist of the Fall Individual Advocacy Tournament, recipient of two American Jurisprudence Awards and received the highest grade in his first-year research and writing class. Mr. Kirkland was also elected Treasurer of the student body of his law school class. While in College, Mr. Kirkland was a bodybuilding enthusiast winning nine titles including the Collegiate USA Bodybuilding Championships in 1986.
